Mint’s annual Spring exhibition in May – Contours of Spring – presents the work of over 30 carefully selected international designers who have greatly contributed to contemporary craft. Lina Kanafani of Mint curates a Spring and an Autumn exhibition each year. The shows are always inspiring, exploratory and surprising.
On their new exhibition, Mint advises “the exhibition will introduce new and inventive production techniques and reveal traditional methods enlivened by new creative approaches. Each piece will illustrate the importance of skill and artistry within a machine driven industry.”
LONDON CRAFT WEEK is an annual event which showcases exceptional craftsmanship through a journey-of-discovery program featuring hidden workshops, celebrated makers, other lesser known makers and highly specialized skills alongside famous shops, galleries and luxury brands.
The full program was announced in early February 2015 at the Art Workers Guild during a ceremony with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The Brompton Design District is pleased to present a series of six exhibitions in association with London Craft Week. A preview event hosting demonstrations, talks and drinks will take place on 6 May from 6 – 8 pm at B&B Italia, Cassina, Mint, Skandium, Squint and The Conran Shop.
“London has long had a Fashion Week and a Design Festival. From 2015, it will have the equivalent for the craft sector: London Craft Week. Featuring the artistic flair, painstaking skills and raw talent of exceptional craftsmanship and, as a result, attracting an ever-increasing quality and volume of collectors and customers.” Guy Salter, Chairman of London Craft Week.
