Smilow® Furniture Premieres Rush Day Bed and Reissues MidCentury Slatted Stacking Tables

New York City-based Smilow Furniture, founded midcentury by designer Mel Smilow and revived in 2012 by daughter Judy, is reviving its popular Slatted Stacking Tables and introducing a Day Bed with Rush Top. Offered to design professionals and consumers through showrooms nationwide, they are ideal for residential, hospitality, contract, institutional and retail applications.

Rush Day Bed. Judy designed the day bed in 2016 to complement Smilow’s 1956 lounge chair, ottoman and dining chair, and her own rush bench created last year. The day bed is offered in walnut or ash in natural finish, with handwoven rush in natural or black. Optional cushion and pillow, sold separately. Shown in walnut, 75”w x 31”d x 15”h. About Smilow Furniture. An authentic midcentury brand handcrafted in America, Smilow Furniture thrived from 1949 to the late 70s. Mel Smilow (1922-2002) was sole designer of the collection, which he retailed through six independently-owned stores. Industrial designer Judy Smilow, his daughter, brought the company back to market in 2012, reissuing a curated selection of the originals, and occasionally updating materials and palette for a new century.
